Today, there is a broad range of addiction recovery programs available, but the option that most addiction treatment centers use is the 12-Step recovery model. This treatment model is backed up with decades of evidence and gives many of those in recovery the tools they need to stay sober. At our men’s addiction treatment center near Waxhaw, North Carolina, we’re proud to provide 12-Step recovery options for our patients. We know that it gives our gentlemen the support they need to recover from their addiction. To learn more about this recovery option or to discover how it can help you get sober, please reach out to Red Oak Recovery today at 866.457.7590.

Why Should I Consider Finding a 12-Step Program Near Me?

One of the primary benefits of a 12-Step recovery program is that it provides a framework that you can utilize in your recovery. As you walk through the 12 steps, you’ll acknowledge your addiction, accept its consequences, and mend some of the damage it has caused in your life. You’ll also begin building a support network because the 12-Step methodology is available around the country, rather than just in one location. This treatment encourages participants to attend regular meetings and move through the different levels, so when you’re feeling weak, you always have someone to turn towards for help.

Another benefit of the 12-Step method is that you have a person at your side who has been where you are. Your sponsor has been through the 12 steps, and they have been able to stay sober for at least five years. Because they have survived substance use and have already completed the program, they provide a unique level of support that your therapist or family may not be able to offer.

Another excellent reason that people use the 12-Step program is that it is usually free. Nearly a third of those who want treatment for addiction but don’t seek it do so because they can’t afford the cost. However, a large number of people donate and support AA and NA. Therefore, in most cases, those who want to seek treatment in a 12-Step program can do so with no out-of-pocket costs. As a result, this program can significantly improve the quality of life for those who want treatment.

Does the 12-Step Recovery Program Work for Everyone?

As with many treatment options, the 12-Step recovery program isn’t a one-size-fits-all service. No one treatment works for every person, which is why it’s vital to find a treatment program that can be tailored to the individual’s unique needs. Additionally, many people are uncomfortable with the idea that a higher power is in control. The higher power is different for everyone, but it may not be comfortable for you to rely on an outside source of power to help you through the process.

Despite the drawbacks of this program, research shows that the 12-Step recovery model can address a range of conditions, including:

  • Alcohol addiction
  • Heroin addiction
  • Fentanyl addiction
  • Prescription painkiller addiction
  • Opiate addiction

If you think that this recovery model can help you overcome your addiction, please reach out to the experts at Red Oak Recovery today.
