The NC opioid epidemic has claimed thousands of lives. Between 1999 and 2016, 12,000 residents of North Carolina died of opioid overdoses. Opioid addiction has ravished families and individuals and shows no sign of abating. If you or someone you love has been caught up in the statistics, maybe it’s time to seek an opioid addiction treatment program designed to work for you. At Red Oak Recovery, we offer gender-specific treatment with individual recovery plans for each client. To learn about our men’s treatment programs, please contact Red Oak Recovery today at 866.457.7590.

NC Opioid Epidemic

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, nearly 47,000 people died in opioid-related overdoses, which accounts for seven out of 10 overdose deaths. Synthetic opioid deaths, including fentanyl but excluding methadone, rose almost 10% in 2018, the latest data available. Prescription opioids accounted for nearly 15,000 deaths, and heroin accounted for another 15,000 deaths that same year.

If you believe a loved one has an opioid addiction, it’s essential to recognize the signs. Sometimes, others notice a change in behavior before the person with an opioid dependency. The NC opioid crisis has torn apart families. So, in order to keep yours together, it may be necessary to stage an intervention to help your loved one get the help they need.

Signs of Opioid Addiction

From Asheville to Raleigh, opioid abuse runs rampant and often starts with prescription painkillers. Those with a painkiller use disorder or opioid use disorder undergo similar treatment. There are also similar signs that indicate a dependence on opioids, such as prescription painkillers.

Here are some of the symptoms that indicate opioid addiction:

  • Exceeding the prescribed limit on your painkiller medication
  • Crushing pills to get high faster
  • Slurred speech
  • Erratic sleeping patterns
  • Injection marks (for heroin and other injected opioids)
  • Using pain medication after the prescription runs out

If you experience these or other signs of opioid addiction, it’s time to seek opioid addiction treatment in NC.

What Does Opioid Addiction Treatment in NC Include?

You don’t have to let the opioid epidemic define your life. Opioid addiction treatment can help you detox your body from the effects of this powerful drug. However, it’s essential to work with medical professionals and therapists to get the support you need during the crucial opioid detox process.

Here are some of the programs included in the opioid addiction treatment program at Red Oak Recovery:

Dual Diagnosis Treatment in North Carolina

If you have an underlying condition such as depression, anxiety, or other mental health disorders, it can contribute to your opioid use disorder. Aftercare programs help you retain connections that you make in our opioid treatment programs. As part of the aftercare service, we help you find support systems within the community as well. Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are two great resources for clients who want to continue working the 12-step programs.
